Leases are an important document for any small business that is renting premises.  The terms of your lease need to be in writing and need carefully specify the terms and conditions under which you occupy the premises.  In the case of retail businesses, as a tenant you may be entitled to a minimum term of five (5) years and many other statutory protections.  As a landlord you may be required to provide disclosure and other materials to comply with the Retail Leases Act.
